The Long Wait, 2022, 30"X40", 4,000 Screws
As the title refers, this painting reflects my interest in the passage of time and the complexity of the human experience. I intend for my work to both acknowledge the fleeting nature of time and the importance of living in the present. The painting depicts three elderly women doing nothing, but eagerly waiting for something. It is unclear what has caught their attention but all three appear to be in anticipation of what is to come. There is no background or context, and unlike real life, the subjects are frozen in time, in my imagination, forever waiting.
